Day 24 / 365 – Photo a Day Project 2023

Headed off up to Grimsay to have lunch with a friend – arrived there and the cafe/community centre was undergoing some major works and the cafe was closed (the Post Office was still open). My friend and I just sat in my wee van for at least an hour and a half having a really great catch up, we hadn’t seen each other for many months.

After running a couple of errands in Balivanich, Benbecula on the way back I headed off home and stopped by Loch Bee – the first break in the clouds today made for a stunning view across the causeway and the loch.

Day 19 / 365 – Photo a Day Project 2023

A friend had a hospital appointment at Balivanich which is on Benbecula, the island north of me – she doesn’t have a car so i took her, it’s a 48 mile round trip. Still very cold but the roads had been gritted and i took the 4×4 so not too bad. It gave me chance to run some errands and get some shopping too. Both photos taken from within the truck – there was no way i was getting out to take the photo it was freezing and blowing a near gale!

Day 17 / 365 – Photo a Day Project 2023

More snow last night and overnight, I made it out for a walk, I couldn’t believe how black the sky was and felt sure that i’d get snowed on as I walked – I have done absolutely nothing to this image, it is just as it came out of the phone. I was going to head to the beach but the northerly wind was so harsh and bitingly cold that it was almost painful, so I only went as far as the golf club.

More snow than i’ve seen here in a long time – at least twelve years!

Woke to snow this morning! Can’t really complain, I didn’t have to go anywhere today so I was lucky 🙂 A proper winter day and a lovely change from the dreich greyness and strong winds of the last few days.

Day 15 / 365 – Photo a Day Project 2023

Ventured out birding this morning, just up the coast as far as Howbeg. I took a blanket to put over my knees to keep my legs warm, felt like a proper old lady haha! We’re under a snow and ice warning from 14.00 today (Saturday) until around lunchtime on Wednesday.

OK, I know, I’m starting to sound like a cracked record where the weather is concerned; it’s gales, rain and endless greyness again today. I didn’t think i’d mange out for a walk but late afternoon, dusk really, I headed down the road. It was so cold I think I was getting brain freeze…
