Day 104 / 365 – Photo a Day Project 2023

A lovely sunny day! I had a job to do today – go up to Kildonan Museum and take some photos of the forthcoming exhibition to commemorate SS Marloch which left Lochboisdale 100 years ago with 300 islanders aboard, bound for a new life in Canada. A massive loss, in terms of humanity, to the islands.

I also had to take some new photographs in Kildonan cafe as that is now under new management. Last job of the day was to update the museum website with the new photos and information!

One of the photos for the cafe section of the museum website. Homemade too!
New graphics for the museum website update. Sadly I didn’t get to eat the props 🙂

Day 101 / 365 – Photo a Day Project 2023

A busy morning, headed out for coffee with Seonaid, then down to Eriskay shop to deliver some cards for them to sell. I took the opportunity to nip down to the ferry terminal to make sure my Outer Hebrides Birds cards and poster were still there (they were). Prince Charlie’s Beach was looking very busy today (at least five or six people there!).

Started a knitting project which uses some stitches I haven’t done before, it’s a lovely pattern by Snickerdoodle Knits. I am using stash that I bought at Yarndale 2019, some lovely Fyberspates 100% merino.

It was super tempting to go in for a dip but i’m trying to restrain myself until next month when it has warmed up marginally…

Day 98 / 365 – Photo a Day Project 2023

A fabulous day at Carinish Hall, North Uist and it was great to catch up with both other artists and crafters and people that I haven’t seen for a while. Also good to meet new people both locals and people visiting our beautiful islands. Thank you to all who bought from me today!

The hall was absolutely buzzing with people all day, there were 12 tables of crafters around the edge of the hall and tables in the middle for people enjoying tea, coffee and home bakes that had been donated. Raffle tickets were selling constantly and there had been so many amazing prize donations from local businesses and individuals that it took an hour to do the draw for all the prizes. Ani and Chrissie – two local ladies who have been diagnosed with Motor Neurone Disease (MND) and who had organised this event announced that over £22,000 had been raised – totally incredible and just goes to show what an amazing community i’m lucky enough to live in. See the MND Uist Facebook page https://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=100090493836107

Here I am all set up (the walking sticks aren’t mine..)
The hall absolutely packed with people
Managed a wee bit of crochet inbetween customers 🙂

Day 80 / 365 – Photo a Day Project 2023

At lunchtime headed to Am Politician in Eriskay for my birthday lunch, we took Seonaid, Bill and Norma were also supposed to be coming but last Thursday Bill came down with the covid and at the weekend Norma started testing positive too 🙁

A lovely lunch was had by all – this place is consistently good and the staff are fab.

In the evening Ian started feeling unwell with a sore throat and a”funny” head. He’s testing negative for covid.
